Adobe InDesign released new updates for 2025 and in this tutorial, let's take a closer look at two of the top features now available.
Download the exercise files if you would like to follow along step by step with the video.
The most significant addition in the latest release is the Generative Fill (Beta) feature, which allows you to generate and apply fill effects to SVG shapes and text in a layout.
Here's a look at how it works. Watch the full tutorial as I walk you through it step by step.
The second update is the ability to now convert any PDF into an InDesign document. Simply open a PDF document in InDesign, much like you would when opening an InDesign document, and it will be convert via Creative Cloud.
It's important to note that because this is still in Beta as well, there are some limitations that will likely cause some issues on conversion. Text frames, kerning, tracking and leading, as well as alignment issues are just some of the things that are not completely supported according to Adobe.
That being said, this is still an amazing feature in the latest update as it allows you to convert PDFs to an Indd if you don't have a source file to work from.
