Turn Any Document Into a Presentation with Adobe Acrobat

Creating visually captivating presentation decks from source documents and text files got much easier with Adobe Acrobat's Generate Presentation tool.

Follow along in this tutorial and learn how to take a text-heavy document and turn it into a fully structured presentation in minutes.

Click the link below to download the PDF source file and text prompt to follow along with this tutorial.

From the Acrobat home page, click the Generate presentation card. This launches Acrobat on the web where you can now begin adding the content for the presentation deck.

In this tutorial, we'll be uploading a marketing campaign case study for a fictional eyewear company called Britton Eyewear.

The goal is to extract the information from this source file and create a slide deck.

  • Click the Add Files button.

  • Choose Your Device or simply drag and drop the PDF included in the exercise files into the window. It is saved as Case Study.pdf. You can download up to 10 documents or a total of 150 pages. The files can be PDFs, DOCX, PowerPoint or text files.

  • Click Use for Presentation.

After the PDF has been uploaded, you can now add a simple text prompt to describe the presentation you'd like to create. There will be suggested prompts and you can start with one of those, or use the prompt that is included in the tutorial content folder.

  • Paste the prompt: Create a clear and engaging presentation from the uploaded case study about Britton Eyewear's digital marketing campaign.

  • Click Customize, hover over Length and choose Medium (6-10 slides).

  • Hover over Audience and choose Marketing Teams. This just ensures the tone of the slide deck conveys the right message and reaches the right audience.

  • Hover over Level of Detail and choose Medium, which hits on all the necessary information, best for meetings.

  • Click Continue to choose one of the many templates from Adobe Express. Tip: if you hover over a cover, it'll give you a preview of each slide within the template.

  • Choose one that you like. For this example, we'll choose this template and click Continue.

Next you can review the content of each slide. Each slide card will have a title, as well as key points. Slides within the outline can be reordered by clicking the left corner of the card and dragging above or below other slides.

To edit content in the slides, click the pencil icon in the bottom left of the card or simply click the text inside the card to make any changes or edits.

To finalize the outline and move on the final step, click Generate to generate the presentation.

Now that the presentation has been generated, you will see that the AI chooses the best images based on the information from the document.

Because this opens in Adobe Express, the presentation deck is fully editable and customizable.

  • For example, if you're not happy with an image, simply click it once and choose Replace from the floating menu at the top of the screen.

  • Here, you can Replace from upload by choosing an image from your device. In this example, click Photos, and choose one from the Adobe Stock library built into Express.

  • Choose one that you like and watch as it automatically updates on the slide.

As far as how to download the deck or ways to present it to your audience, there are a few options.

First, if you click the download icon in the upper-right corner of the screen, you can save the presentation as a PDF or PowerPoint document. This is best for viewing the document outside of the Adobe Express experience.

However, you also have the ability to present directly in the web browser. Click the Present button in the upper-right corner of the screen and choose Present. If you want to present from the beginning, choose Present from first page.

The deck will launch in full-screen mode in the browser and and even offers a highlighted cursor pointer.
